In light of the upcoming fall 2021 NEHA-FDA Retail Flexible Funding Model (RFFM) Grant Program application period, NEHA has recently published an article in Food Safety Magazine announcing some of the important features of the new grant program. The article gives an overview of the program and how it's different from previous grants as well as provides a comprehensive explanation of grant types available and shares specific funding amounts that will be offered.

The article also provides detailed information that applicants will need to begin preparing for a successful application. This includes sharing aspects of the application process that jurisdictions can begin in advance of the application portal opening, such as ensuring they have a recent self-assessment of all nine Standards and a Comprehensive Strategic Improvement Plan. As part of our commitment to simplicity, accessibility, and a people-centered grant management process, NEHA has also shared resources and support options in this article to help food protection programs prepare for a successful application.
